Why should you consider volunteering?

This Volunteers’ Week, we are urging everyone to think about volunteering and have come up with our top 8 reasons of what makes volunteering so great.

1. It makes you feel good.

Studies have shown it helping others is an important element in increasing happiness. Enough said.

2. It doesn’t cost you anything. Just your time.

We, like may others can offer travel expenses for volunteers so you’ll never be out of pocket.

3. It allows you to try something new

Ever wanted to help out backstage at a show or organise a fundraiser event? Why not give it a go – what are you waiting for?

4. You can get to know your local community better

Even if you’ve lived in North Ayrshire your whole life, I’m sure there are people and places waiting to be explored and volunteering can help you do that for free!

5. Make new friends

Volunteering isn’t just about the tasks at hand, we have regular social events to bring our workforce together

6. You’ll learn something new

Whether it’s a skill, or something about yourself, we guarantee that you’ll learn something new.

7. Gain experience

If you’re looking for work or want to enhance your CV, volunteering is a great way to gain experience.

8. A chance to give back

Give something back to your local community by volunteering.

If you aren’t currently volunteering (three in four of us aren’t), have a look at some of our volunteering roles or if there is something else you think you can offer – get in touch. Capall Dorcha Theatre Company, based in Ardrossan, is a young social enterprise set on doing theatre differently and needs volunteers like you to help us grow and sustain.
