At Capall Dorcha Theatre Company we like to do theatre differently!

For many taking part in theatre or the arts is ‘not for them’ for so long in North Ayrshire we haven’t had the opportunity to take part in the arts or understand how they are run, or where do to go if we are interested

At Capall Dorcha, we are actively listening to our local community, asking local people and Ensemble members what types of events they want to take part in here in our hometown of Ardrossan.

In our short three months since launching Ensemble, we are now in a place where we can reflect on what we have done, so far, and where we are going!

Our community Learning Officer Jack Stancliffe has visited St Peters, Winton, Stanely Primary School and Ardrossan Academy with over 175 young people taking part in a free outreach project.

Our youth theatre classes which run weekly in Ardrossan Civic Centre for Primary 5 – 7 and S1+ have had 20 young people taking part and contributing to having their say on how we run with our Youth Board meetings open to all who want to come along.

Lastly, our adult sessions have had 30 attending throughout the month. We looked at what our Script Reading group does and how the group develops going forward, sharing their writing and creating live scripts through working with radio.

Our open days over the month allowed us to open our doors and meet new people in the community sharing our ambitions with other social enterprises and our aims for being based in Ardrossan for the future.

We have come a long way in such a short space of time, and its all thanks to our community and patrons becoming Ensemble members and helping us direct the path that we are going on which leaves me to save the best news to last.  Sice we like #doingtheatredifferently we are working with Young Scot giving every youth theatre member 100 points a month to collect and have introduced our Arts Award Qualifications summer project which is live online now to book your place.

As we move forward throughout the year, we still require your help!  We are looking for volunteers to support us further, with Volunteer week coming up later in the month, can you spare some time to support your local social enterprise in your community?

If so feel free to give us a call on 01294 475648.
